The 2014 German GP at the Saschenring produced one of the most bizarre race starts in MotoGP history.
After the sighting lap, fourteen riders decided the best option was to pull into the pits for intermediate tires, and start the race from pit lane.
This resulted in a brash dash for the pit exit after swapping to their second machine.
The first two rows were packed five bikes wide as compared to regular grid positions which allow three bikes to start side by side.
Only nine motorcycles were left on the actual starting grid.
Germany’s Stefan Bradl initially headed the field, but Marc Marquez won the race from pit lane after a daring out-braking maneuver around the outside into the first corner propelled him to the front of the chasing pack.
